Subterranean termite colonies can contain as many as one (1) million or more members and expand their colonies during swarming.
An indication of Subterranean termite infestation includes mud, grass, or tunnels in the wood.
The following areas and conditions should be inspected for Subterranean termites:
Areas with excessive moisture, including leaking pipes or faucets and water damage of any kind
Crawl spaces – (Areas underneath your house that are raised)
Expansion joints or cracks in the foundation; and
Exterior perimeter and roof line.
Many customers seem to have their own names for different kinds of “household pests”, based on what they’ve heard over the years from family or friends. As a result, Pest Control Companies have to read between the lines, in order to properly identify the pest that they’re trying to describe over the phone.
The most common household pest questions are in reference too……
ORIENTAL COCKROACH “aka” WATER BUG
AMERICAN COCKROACH “aka” PALMETO BUGS …. (common name in the South)
PILL BUGS or SOWBUGS “aka” ROLLY POLLIES
HOUSEHOLD ANT “aka” PISS ANTS … (the owner’s favorite term)
POTATO BUG “aka“ JERUSALEM CRICKET
These are just a few of the household pests we have to identify on a daily basis. As always, a thorough inspection of the house and property is the best way to approach the problem.
**** IF YOU HAVE AN UNUSUAL NAME FOR THE COMMON HOUSEHOLD PEST….. LEAVE US A COMMENT AND WHAT YOU CALL CERTAIN PESTS.
